This is such a perfect fit in every possible way, if it's necessary to overpay a bit, they should probably do it anyway. OG is bigger and longer than RJ. He can defend the taller longer SFs that would give RJ trouble. His switching ability would add flexibility to the defense. He's also strong enough to play some PF. So if Obi is part of the deal, we can use lineups with OG at PF still have solid defense and have a have a stretch PF on the court . GET THIS DONE

def agree - just an ideal fit alongside two high usage scorers who are poor defenders like Brunson and Randle

I think OG is a better fit bit I don’t think he is worth RJ, OBI +draft capital . Cost is 2 high . If he was unhappy being 3 rd guy In Toronto do we think he will be happy being 3rd guy and looking to get paid ? I get frustrated with RJ but then I remember how young he is , guy did show he was a capable defender just 2 years ago . Think you continue to develop the kid , drafted him be patient with him .

Fair and reasonable point... However, OG averaged just 13 FG attempts last season, whereas RJ was north of 16 FG per game. I think the Knicks would focus on expanding OG's offensive role in NY - esp considering how efficient he is

Guess my biggest thing is cost . If you can do RJ and a couple of protected first we have i would do it . Would much rather see if we could package IQ and Toppin to move into top 10 ( Houston ?)Draft one of the big wings slotted for top 10 and sign Donte . That would be an off-season would be really happy with .

very unlikely a late lottery pick would be as good/productive as IQ

And Obi may be a sunk cost at this point. I suspect Knicks fans will be very upset in the return they get for Obi once they trade him (as the Wizards fans were with Rui)

My thinking on IQ is that while productive he is not going to be starting PG while we have Brunson so why go into season and have to worry about inevitable camp leaks about roles and stuff . Grimes would get increased usage

and you will have Hart and Donte .

Without question Anunobi’s skill set fits the Knicks current roster so much better than RJ’s and I wish the Knicks management would go all in on trying to acquire him. Although my only concern is that when the rumors initially started that the Knicks were interested in him it was rumored he wouldn’t resign with another team unless it was for a max contract.

Yes - the cost to keep OG long-term is concerning, but I think paying market value for a truly elite 3-and-D wing is a worthy investment

If league rumors are accurate, and it will take a “Donovan Mitchell sized offer” to acquire OG then you’d have to assume the offer would need to be RJ, Obi, two of the Knicks own first round picks with light protections and two of the protected firsts from other teams. Is OG worth that?

the closer OG gets closer to free-agency, the more his price drops (Micthell had 3+ years left on his deal)... Raps would def get some very interesting offers - but Knicks package can def be competitive... But yes at some point, the price becomes two high. 4 firsts would prob be too much IMO
