Players like Miller and Halliburton show extremely poor sportsmanship and they make they game all about themselves. Players like that don’t win titles.

And Miller has made a living from the choke sign and that one game which has made his reputation much larger than reality would show.

I would hate if one of my players acted that way so I wonder how Pacers fans really feel about these guys?

Tyrese is the best player in the league at making the game about his team, so much so that he’s done his research on the history of the team he plays for and the history of the moment he finds himself in. He played to the entire state of Indiana and fired up all the fans and his teammates. He’s the only true point guard in the league who’s truly more concerned with keeping his guys engaged and making the right plays without hardly ever making mistakes, and genuinely is never hunting the pretty box score but rather the right play for his team, and is an alpha dog when the game comes down to it and they need a bucket. Acting high and mighty while being the same fan base that glorifies all the “fans” shit talking court side like they have anything on the line is hilarious. I’d much prefer my team doing the talking and going out and backing up those words with actions than having the fan base constantly writing checks that the Knicks’ ass can’t cash.

He’s a very poor sport. Taunting an opponent just is not necessary.

OMG, thank you so much for this. The narrative drives me crazy. As a Knicks fan in the 90s, we knew that Reggie had the ability to occasionally go off, but he didn't strike fear in our hearts.

Bingo... nowhere close to MJ or the other true superstars NY faced during that time

Great article, Tommy! I have been saying that to people who bring up Miller for years.

Indiana with Reggie went 6-12 at MSG in the playoffs. He did have some big moments, but he also got lit up quite a bit. I

Others believe a certain #23 "owned the Garden", not Reggie. A quick check says the Knicks went 7-5 vs. the Bulls when MJ was there and 10-5 overall during that period (including 3-0 in 1994 when he retired).

The truth speaks louder than fiction...

amen - important to speak truth to the false narratives perpetuated by Miller and TNT

Thanks for writing this. I hope the knicks are watching a loop of Haliburton doing the choke in the garden and come out fired up tonight.

My road as a knick fan began at the 99 playoffs. After two rounds I was fucking scared of the Pacers and specially Miller. When Ewin injured his Achilles I was sure we were done. Then, LJ Camby, Spree and H20 destroyed the Pacers and Miller was a no-show.

Wasn't Reggie's choke gesture really geared more specifically towards Spike Lee who was harassing him nonstop? If Spike wasn't there, he doesn't make the choke hold.

Was Spike "harassing him nonstop" - or cheering for his team as he always had... Spike is not the first nor lat person Reggie has gotten under the skin off.. MJ choked him. Starks butted him... Reggie is an irritant and a great entertainer. But not half the player Patrick was

I want a repeat of last year when Hart went up to Reggie after the game and said something to him. This time I want him to mimic the choke hold to Reggie and that simp Haliburton.

I don't think it's deserved. That Reggie choke sign got more play than it deserved. They did win that game but lost the series. Matt is right. He did make the choke sign to Spike Lee. Haliburton has to pay for making the choke sign to the Knicks. It was an epic collapse in game 1, but they have to put it in the past and take care of business. The Knicks have proved they can win on the road.
