I welcomed a special guest today, Chris Herring, the author of the highly-anticipated new book: “Blood in the Garden: The Flagrant History of the 1990s New York Knicks”
The book, which officially dropped yesterday, is a must-have for any die-hard Knicks fans out there.
Chris and I spoke about the key characters in the story (Ewing, Riley, Starks, Mason, etc.) and the indelible moments in those unforgettable games from this unforgettable era.
Chris does an outstanding job providing background and context to those moments. Through dogged reporting, he uncovered some fascinating details, especially as they related to Pat Riley’s decision to let John Starks keep firing away in Game 7 of the NBA Finals in Houston.
And of course, we talked about the years leading up to and subsequent to that (unsuccessful) trip to the mountaintop in 1994.
And I knew you guys would be angry with me if I didn’t ask about the current Knicks squad, so, late in the podcast, we discussed whether New York can make a run over the second half of the 2021-22 season.
I also asked Chris about potential trade targets: Jalen Brunson and De’Aaron Fox.
Enjoy!
