Isola took a shot at you this morning not by name of course . How he defends Thibs putting KAT back in the game is beyond me .

I didn’t expect this team to win the chip this year but also didn’t expect them to look this poor against top teams . Thibs has gotten his golden parachute so doubt he will be around past this year . Team has roster construction issues to deal with in the offseason . No way you can give Bridges a big contract after the season and OG looks like a massive overpay . Both he and Bridges are invisible at times . Rose and company went for it and right now it seems like we don’t have enough so that’s a big problem going forward.

Thibs could get canned if NY losses in first round

The one benefit of Bridges not playing up to snuff is NY will get a discount on his extension this summer

KAT clearly can't play consistent drop coverage as a 5 against a big (anybody) who can shoot 3's. When Mitch returns, drop cover will be more successful and probably allow better coverage on limiting open 3's. But how do you protect KAT and JB in PnR at the same time? What coverage did Minny play with Gobert and KAT and Conley?

Great question - Minny mostly hid KAT by having him defend non-offensive threats on the wings when possible. They also successfully/frequently switched screens up top when KAT was drawn into those actions. The Wolves could get away with this b/c they often played KAT at the 4 and had Rudy (the DPOY) protecting the rim and another tall/long defender in J McDaniels

Thanks. Sounds like Mitch and OG are similar players to Rudy + McDaniels. Although my concern was, assuming Kat at the 4, more the defensive combo of Kat/Conley comparing to Kat/JB. Let's see what Thibs does.

Do you think there is a chance Thibs is playing the long game here and is saving/planning defensive strategy for the likely 2nd round playoff matchup? If you show the counter to the Cs now, they adjust, but perhaps they are trying to rope a dope them and will have better gameplan down the road?

What are other teams doing better than the Knicks in defending against a team that has a surplus of 3 pt shooters? While KAT and Brunson clearly are defensive liabilities, aren't there better ways to overcome them with Hart, Bridges, OG who are stalwarts?

No chance IMO... No coach in the NBA prioritizes the reg season like Thibs (as evidenced by how much he plays his starters in the reg season - more than any other coach).

No teams shut down BOS or OKC etc, but most other clubs hedge screens (have the big man play on the level instead of dropping) or blitz the ball-handler. The risk is giving up easy points in the paint (which Thibs hates) b/c you big is out on the perimeter. But at some point, these great offense force you to choose your poison.
