Top-100 Fantasy Rankings for the 2022-23 Season - Training Camp Edition

Lauri Markkanen should see all the minutes he can handle and will be an offensive focal point on a rebuilding Jazz squad with very little depth up front...

Top-100 Fantasy Rankings for the 2022-23 Season - Training Camp Edition
Share

With training camps set to get underway throughout the league early next week, here's my first crack at my annual overall rankings for the 2022-23 season. I'll amend and refine them as we get more information throughout the preseason before releasing a final "Tommy Beer Top-150 Overall" in October.

It's important to note that this ranking is based on nine-category (points, assists, rebounds, steals, blocks, 3-pointers, field goal percentage, free throw percentage and turnovers) roto scoring formats. I've added comments on a handful of players to explain the rationale behind their rankings.

1. Nikola Jokic (DEN - PF,C) - It's uncommon for there to be a consensus pick at No. 1, but you'll be hard-pressed to find anyone making an argument against the Joker.

2. Giannis Antetokounmpo (MIL - PF,C) - Giannis has seen his FT% improve in three straight seasons. If he ever starts making 3PT% at anywhere close to a 35% clip...

3. Stephen Curry (GSW - PG,SG) - I have Steph a bit higher than some, but I love his steady, consistent, predictable production.

4. Joel Embiid (PHI - PF,C) - Can he continue to avoid the injury bug?

5. Kevin Durant (BKN - SF,PF) - Like Embiid, KD is a fantasy beast when he's healthy.

6. Jayson Tatum (BOS - SF,PF)

7. Karl-Anthony Towns (MIN - C)

8. Luka Doncic (DAL - PG,SG) - Only a matter of time before Luka wins his first MVP, but his percentages and injury issues are worrisome.

9. Trae Young (ATL - PG)

10. Damian Lillard (POR - PG) - Dame is one of only two players in NBA history to record at least 1,500 points and 400 assists in each of their first nine seasons; Oscar Robertson is the other.

11. James Harden (PHI - PG,SG) - The Beard was the top-ranked fantasy player in back-to-back seasons in 2018-19 and 2019-20.

12. LeBron James (LAL - PG,SG,SF,PF) - Bron >>> Father Time

13. Paul George (LAC - SF,PF,SG)

14. Devin Booker (PHO - SG,SF,PG)

15. Anthony Davis (LAL - PF,C) - The ultimate boom-or-bust pick. AD finished both the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons ranked second overall in nine-category fantasy formats but can he stay healthy?

16. Tyrese Haliburton (IND - PG,SG) - I heart Haliburton

17. LaMelo Ball (CHA - PG,SG)

18. Jimmy Butler (MIA - SF,PF,SG) - Boring pick. Good pick.

19. Fred VanVleet (TOR - PG,SG)

20. Bam Adebayo (MIA - PF,C)

21. Chris Paul (PHO - PG)

22. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (OKC - PG,SG)

23. Rudy Gobert (MIN - C)

24. Kawhi Leonard (LAC - SG,SF,PF) - Like AD, Kawhi carries a league-winning upside along with a season-crushing downside.

25. Domantas Sabonis (SAC - PF,C)

26. Bradley Beal (WAS - SG,SF)

27. Dejounte Murray (ATL - PG,SG) - I'd have Murray a lot higher if he was still with the Spurs (he finished 7th overall last season), but his usage rate is going to plummet playing alongside Trae.

28. Anthony Edwards (MIN - SG,SF)

29. Nikola Vucevic (CHI - C)

30. Kristaps Porzingis (WAS - PF,C) - Very well-rounded fantasy production when he's on the floor. KP finished inside the top 20 overall last season

31. Darius Garland (CLE - PG,SG)

32. Jrue Holiday (MIL - PG,SG)

33. Myles Turner (IND - PF,C)
