The Knicks Made a Pick!

What other sickos woke up this morning thinking about a Knicks summer league roster featuring Jack Kayil, Tyler Nickel, Pacôme Dadiet, Mohamed Diawara, Ariel Hukporti and Kevin McCullar Jr.?!?

As expected, the Knicks continued to wheel and deal in the second round on Wednesday night.

New York entered the evening with the No. 31 overall pick but dealt it, along with No. 55 overall, to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Nos. 39 and 53, as well as the Sacramento Kings’ 2029 second-round pick. (The Rockets used #31 on Ohio State guard Bruce Thornton.)

As we discussed yesterday, evidence continues to mount that Leon Rose and the front office plan to stay below the second apron (possibly on a mandate from ownership). Thus, the Knicks continued their efforts to trade down the draft board.

A player taken at #31 overall is unlikely to sign for the rookie minimum, the second-round pick exception, or accept a two-way contract. Due to the Knicks’ current cap constraints, that is a clear priority for the franchise.

However, the next time they were on the clock, New York actually made a pick.
