After dropping their first two Summer League contests, the Knicks notched a win Wednesday in Las Vegas, knocking off the Orlando Magic 82-80 in overtime.
Once again, New York's best player was Charlie Brown Jr., who has opened some eyes over the past week by making a positive impact on both ends of the floor. Brown finished Wednesday's win with a team-high 19 points (on 8-of-15 shooting) to go along with six rebounds, two assists, three three-pointers, one steal and a game-high four blocks.
Brown is a 26-year-old, 6'6" wing who went undrafted out of St. Joseph's in 2019 but has appeared in 41 games for four different NBA teams (the Hawks, Thunder, Mavs and Sixers). Speaking with the New York Post, Knicks summer league coach Dice Yoshimoto had plenty of praise for Brown. "He can play multiple positions, he can handle the ball, he can rebound and he can push the ball," said Yoshimoto. "Just his versatility; he can do different things. The way that he handles himself, he's done great so far."
Through New York's first three Summer League games, Brown is averaging 17.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 2.0 blocks in 28.4 minutes, while shooting 51.4% from the floor and 77% from the free-throw line. He's one of only seven Summer League players to score more than 50 total points and shoot above 50% from the field in Vegas.
