Last week, we kicked off the 2024 free agency preview series by ranking the best point guards set to hit the open market next summer.

Today we examine the shooting guards up for grabs.

1. Klay Thompson / Golden State Warriors / Unrestricted

Thompson, at 33 years of age, is no longer the elite two-way force he was before missing all of 2019-20 and 2020-21 due to a torn ACL and ruptured Achilles. However, he's still one of the greatest shooters of all time and was lethal on the offensive end once again last season, as he averaged 21.9 points and 4.4 made three-pointers per game while converting over 41% of his attempts from behind the arc. He was the only player in the league to knock down more than 300 triples. The Warriors kept the core together and took care of Draymond Green with one last lucrative contract this summer; expect them to do the same with Klay in 2024.

2. Immanuel Quickley / New York Knicks / Restricted

If you have read this newsletter over the past year, you know how valuable IQ was to the Knicks this past season. Quickley took a massive leap in his development, posting career-highs across the board, and finished second in the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year voting. Although he struggled in the playoffs, over the Knicks final eight regular-season contests, IQ averaged 27.3 points, 5.9 assists, 4.8 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 3.8 treys, while slashing 49/46/80%. On the season, the Knicks outscored their opponents by 318 points with Quickley on the court (the highest +/- among all bench players). The Knicks should lock him up ASAP.
