The retort from those arguing against an expanded rotation is that New York doesn't have a quality bench. The issue for me is that the question remains unanswered...
Final Score: Knicks 126 - Thunder 101
Record: 25-14
In the most recent episode of the "Roommates Show" podcast, which aired prior to Friday's matchup with the Thunder, Jalen Brunson made some bold statements regarding the importance of the team's rematch with OKC.
"I know people don't want to hear this, but this is a test of who we are and how we're going to respond," Brunson said at the show's start. "We're obviously not doing our best, ball's not going in. We're just a step late. It's not an excuse, but how are we going to respond as a team? I don't want to say it's a good test for us, but it will show us where we are."
Well, if Friday's game was a test, the Knicks failed miserably. Even if we are grading on a curve, New York gets an "F-" (and a hearty "F- U" from the fans in attendance who paid good money to watch the embarrassing blowout.)
Now, before we dig into the gory details of the OKC massacre, it's important to note that we are not even halfway through the 2024-25 season. All hope is not lost. The Knicks are still an incredibly talented team. And they have three months to right the ship. I believe they will.
The goal of an NBA team is to start peaking in early April, not the start of January. That said, it's impossible/irresponsible to ignore the fact that the vibes around this team are anything but immaculate at the moment.
