Tommy what a great game for you and your son to experience. You will always have the legendary “soul snatching” big Knick comeback to talk about for years as will your son. For gosh sakes , though, can someone please get through to KAT to stop with the idiotic fouls that cost at least foul shots including a flagrant one against Hart. Just mind boggling how careless he is at times.
I was cursing up a storm when KAT did that. He did it all season and has lightened up a lot on the bad fouls but that one could've been deadly for our chances. Thankfully it wasn't.
I still can't believe what I saw. Phenomenal effort and comeback.
But when all is said and done, what they did was hold serve, rather than pee their pants and piss away a series.
Now, you know Donovan Mitchell is going to come in hot, and aim to score 60 points. Gotta keep holding serve. And I'd really love it if we didn't wait for the team to be down double digits before pulling a lineup that isn't working on offense and is slumming on defense.
Tommy, great write-up. I loved the detail you shared of bringing your son to the game. I was probably about his age when my dad took me to the Garden on June 5, 1999. My ears are still ringing from that night and it's a memory my dad and I share forever. I hope the same for you and yours!
Funny enough, I was freaking out at the beginning of that game too, and I wanted to go home. My dad calmed me down and convinced me to at least stay until halftime. I'm so glad he did. So glad y'all made it through. LGK!
Tommy - I'm surprised you left out a very important detail on the comeback. After Mobley hit that three to go back up 8 and made it a 3 possession game, OG went to the line for two shots. He made the first and missed the 2nd and Scott Foster called a phantom loose ball foul on Merrill from the other side of the floor. I believe I mentioned I have a very close friend who is a top NBA ref and I can tell you that call from Scott Foster was incredibly fortunate for the Knicks. Foster was not in position to make that call and stepped on his partner's toes to make it. It was a terrible call that went the Knicks' way. That call gave the Knicks the ball back down 7 and that's when Bridges hit the three with the shot clock expiring to cut it to 4. The Knicks ended up getting 4 points on that possession because of that call. Hey man, I'll take it. You need some luck to win. Glad you and your son got to enjoy that game. I was at game 1 of the ECF last year and we all know how that went....
I was re-watching the game this morning and I thought Merril did get a grab OG a bit... but it was def late and Foster made it from the opposite side of the court... that being said, that FT that Harden got from running into Brunson near the top of the key was a terrible call also
My buddy was saying that there is no way you can make that call on Merrill in that spot. - especially from the other side of the court. The contact didn't affect the play. Apparently DeRosa was working his first Conference Finals game and Foster stepped on his toes making that call from accross the court instead of trusting him to make the right call. Hey man, I'll take any help we can get! That one play didn't win the Knicks the game but it sure helped!
Just an incredible moment and come back. I will never forget that landry shamet shot for the rest of my life
Amen! That's what it's all about!!!

I thought that offensive on Allen was the end of the magic!!! insane

yes!!!! my little guy was a bit overwhelmed by the noise and the chaos at first - but, yeah, it was a truly unforgettable experience

I didn't like that Harden call either.
