Luka is a Laker!?!?
Trying to make sense of a seemingly senseless trade... and recapping the Knicks loss to LA.
We'll recap the Knicks-Lakers game in a bit, but we have to start with arguably the most shocking trade not only in NBA history but in the annals of North American professional sports.
Late last night, multiple outlets reported that the Dallas Mavericks are sending Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris to the Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a 2029 first-round pick. Utah is helping to facilitate the three-team deal by accepting Jalen Hood-Schifino's salary and taking in two 2025 second-round draft picks.
The swap was so shocking that almost everyone assumed that ESPN's Shams Charania, the first reporter to break the news, had been hacked. Shams has to tweet multiple times, "This is real."
Like almost everyone else on earth, I'm still trying to process this. Here are my initial thoughts.
