The Knicks crossed the finish line of their 82-game marathon season Sunday afternoon, just as some folks were finishing Easter brunch and Brooks Koepka was choking away his lead at the Masters.
There are no lofty conclusions to be drawn from the contest, a 141-136 defeat to the Indiana Pacers, as it had no implications on playoff seeding, and the Knicks were without their two leading scorers, Julius Randle (sprained left ankle) and Jalen Brunson (right-hand injury maintenance).
Arguably the most important and encouraging takeaway from Sunday had nothing to do with the action on the court but rather seeing Randle on the bench and NOT wearing a walking boot on his foot.
On March 30th, the Knicks announced that Randle, who sprained his ankle the prior evening, would be re-evaluated in two weeks. We are still four days away from that re-evaluation date (this Thursday), but the fact that Randle is already out of his boot and walking without a significant/noticeable limp qualifies as a good sign. Thibodeau told reporters that Randle is "making good, steady progress."
