Final Score: Knicks 112 - Blazers 84
Record: 22-15
Is there something special brewing here?
After beating the woeful Wizards on Saturday night, Julius Randle told reporters that he and his teammates would remain focused against subpar opponents. "Don't play with your food," Randle said. "Take care of what you're supposed to take care of, and just keep improving."
That's precisely what they did Tuesday at the Garden, demolishing an overwhelmed Blazers squad right from the opening tip. New York is now a pristine 15-1 vs. teams with a sub-.500 records this season. It was the newest Knicks, OG Anunoby, that led the way in this one, pouring in 16 points in the first nine minutes of the contest. New York finished the first quarter up 19 before expanding the lead to 39 in the third quarter and cruising home from there.
After making his presence felt primarily on the defensive end in his first four games with the Knicks, OG got in a full practice with the team for the first time on Monday and looked far more in sync on the offensive end vs. Portland. He shot 9-of-12 from the field and finished 23 points, four rebounds, one steal, one block, and four 3-pointers in 29 minutes.
