Knicks Get Gutty Win As The Bench Saves the Day
Even the most demanding Knicks fans would have at least partially understood if NY threw up their hands and let go of the rope for one night... But not this team. Not this season.
If there was ever a time you'd expect a team to let go of the rope, it was the Knicks last night vs. Philly…
The New York Knickerbockers were less than 22 hours removed from a devastating, heartbreaking home loss, in overtime, to the Clippers.
The Knicks were without two starters - Mitchell Robinson and RJ Barrett, who was ruled out minutes before the opening tip after throwing up after warm-ups. The three starters available had logged 40+ minutes the night before.
The Knicks were playing the red-hot Sixers, who were fully healthy and had the league's best record dating back to early December, having won 22 of their previous 27 contests.
With 2:30 left in the first quarter of Sunday's showdown, Tyrese Maxey hit a pullup jumper to give Philly a 33-12 lead.
With that working against them, even the most demanding Knicks fans would have at least partially understood if the guys in the blue and orange uniforms threw up their hands and let go of the rope for one night. Eh, this is a "schedule loss"… it sucks, but it happens… what can you do… let's pack it up, take this "L" and save our energy for our next battle.
But not this team. Not this season.
