Knicks Eclipsed by the Suns
With their offense not firing on all cylinders, the Knicks' margin of error is slim. New York has now lost five of their last six...
Final Score: Knicks 107 - Suns 112
Record: 24-14
After a 14-0 run put the Suns up double-digits late in the third quarter Friday night, the Knicks played some of the best defense of the season in the final frame.
Karl-Anthony Towns was aggressively switching onto guards and wings. Jalen Brunson was hard hedging and quickly recovering, preventing Phoenix from taking advantage of their preferred matchups. Mitchell Robinson was protecting the paint. Deuce McBride and OG Anunoby were doing their thing.
The Knicks held the Suns to just seven points over the first ten minutes of the fourth. Phoenix went 3-of-16 from the floor, missing all seven three-point attempts during that stretch.
With three minutes remaining in regulation, a pair of Anunoby free throws tied the score at 101. On the Suns’ subsequent possession, McBride intercepted a pass from Devin Booker, giving New York an opportunity to take the lead.
So, this is the part of the story where Captain Clutch puts on his cape and carries his team to victory, right?
Not on this night.
