Jalen Brunson: King of New York
We may never again see something this special on a basketball court for a prolonged period...
Final Score: Knicks 128 - Bulls 117
Record: 47-32
At some point, Jalen Brunson may play a basketball game where he doesn't leave us slack-jawed while shattering some Knicks record… but last night was not that night.
Brunson strengthened his MVP credentials in Tuesday's beatdown of the Bulls, connecting on 13 of his 24 FG attempts and nailing all 12 of his free throws en route to a game-high 45 points. He also dished out a game-high eight assists to go along with three rebounds, one steal, and seven 3-pointers in 42 minutes. And, notably, Brunson did most of his damage while being matched up against Alex Caruso, one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA (First-Team All-Defense last season).
It was JB's second straight game with at least 40 points, joining Bernard King (1984-85) and Patrick Ewing (1989-90) as just the second Knick with multiple back-to-back 40-burgers in the same season.
Over the Knicks' last four games, Brunson is averaging 39.5 points, 9.5 assists and 3.8 rebounds while shooting 51.9% from the floor, 42.9% from downtown and 88.4% from the free-throw stripe.
Seriously.
JB has scored at least 35 points and dished out at least eight assists in each of those four contests. He's the first Knicks player to record such a streak and just the seventh player in NBA history to have four straight such games.
