Draft Day
Knicks fans got some welcomed news last night when both Windy and Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer indicated it is unlikely New York will send the 11th selection to Indiana in a package for Brogdon.
With the start of the 2022 NBA Draft mere hours away, let's check out the final mocks from several sites to see who they project the Knicks will do with the No. 11 overall pick. (That’s assuming they use the pick themselves and Knicks fans got some welcomed news last night when both ESPN’s Brian Windhorst and Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer indicated it is unlikely New York will send the 11th selection to Indiana in a package for Malcolm Brogdon).
Sports Illustrated:
Jalen Duren - Memphis - Freshman - Forward
Per SI's Jeremy Woo: “Without a ton to offer in trade scenarios, right now it feels more likely the Knicks stay put here and grab whichever prospect falls to them. If one of the guards falls out of the top 10, New York would be a potential landing spot. This could also be a spot where they target a big, with Duren and Mark Williams both in play in this range and Mitchell Robinson about to hit free agency. Although Duren is more of a traditional center, he’s physically quite gifted and holds some appeal as a long-term piece worth developing, particularly as one of the youngest players in the draft. He’s a powerful leaper with a mature frame, good hands and feet, and some untapped skill potential. Teams have long held concerns over his inconsistent motor and occasionally questionable instincts, but if he puts everything together, he could become an upper-echelon center, if not a star.”
Basketball News:
AJ Griffin - Duke - Freshman - Forward
Per Basketball News' Matt Babcock: "Griffin is 6-foot-6 and possesses a 7-foot wingspan. He is a powerful and versatile wing with a tremendous physical profile and a solid skill set. Griffin has also shown the ability to create for both himself and others. After missing some time early last season, due to injury, Griffin solidified himself as one of the best shooters in the country at 44.7% from deep. Also worth noting, Griffin is the son of former NBA player and current Toronto Raptors assistant coach Adrian Griffin.”
CBS Sports:
TyTy Washington - Kentucky - Freshman - Combo Guard
Per CBS analyst Kyle Boone: "The Knicks need scoring and playmaking and could get a two-for-one combo here in Washington. The former five-star recruit is a knockdown shooter who thrived off the ball at Kentucky but has some untapped talents playing on the ball as a creator and initiator as well; his 27% assist rate in SEC play was 11th among players in his conference -- despite playing almost exclusively as the second initiator.
USA Today:
AJ Griffin - Duke - Freshman - Forward
Per USA Today's Bryan Kalbrosky: "If they don’t end up trading up to draft Ivey, I could imagine the Knicks targeting Duke’s AJ Griffin, who recently had a solo workout with the organization. He was a high school standout near New York City and his father, Adrian Griffin Sr., was an assistant for Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau on the Bulls. Also, his agents long worked alongside Knicks president Leon Rose at CAA. He recently told reporters it would be “really, really good” and a “dream come true” to play for the Knicks. He also thinks he would have a good connection with fellow former Duke star RJ Barrett.
