Remember what idiots (like me) were shouting this summer: "The new CBA's draconian rules will make it incredibly difficult for contenders to make moves, so trade deadlines in the future will probably be boring…"
Yeah, about that, never mind.
The 2025 deadline will go down in the books as one of the most chaotic in league history. Not only did we have the Mavs doing the unthinkable, trading a 25-year-old Luka Donic, that was but the first blockbuster. In the days since, there have been several other league-alternating swaps. Before we dig into the major moves made around the NBA, let's first discuss the minor transaction made by the Knicks on Wednesday.
Multiple outlets reported last night that New York has agreed to trade Jericho Sims and the draft rights to Mathias Lessort to the Milwaukee Bucks for veteran guard Delon Wright, cash considerations and the rights to Hugo Besson.
It's certainly no shock to see the Knicks part ways with Sims, as he had fallen out of favor and out of Tom Thibodeau's rotation. Over his 3+ years in New York (remarkably, he was tied with Deuce McBride as the second-longest tenured player on the team), Sims failed to improve offensively. With Mitchell Robinson hopefully inching closer to a return and rookie Ariel Hukporti playing well of late, it was expected Sims had played his last game for the Knicks.
