Final Score: Knicks 116 - Heat 112
Record: 40-20
Once again, the Knicks came out flat and played a sloppy, careless first half. Consequently, they were down 17 at the break and trailing by 19 points midway through the quarter Sunday night in Miami. However, OG Anunoby seemingly decided at that point he would not allow the Heat to score anymore, which allowed New York to claw and scrape their way back into the game.
And, once again, when the chips were down, Jalen Brunson put his team on his back and carried them to another gritty win.
We'll get to Brunson's heroics and key contributions from Deuce McBride in a moment, but first, let's shine a spotlight on OG's all-around brilliance.
Anunoby finished the contest with 23 points (9-of-18 FGs), nine rebounds, five assists, two steals, three blocks and four three-pointers in 43 minutes. Per Basketball Reference, he is the first player in Knicks' franchise history to match or exceed those statistics in those categories in a single game. The only other players to tally those stats over the past few years are LeBron, Wemby, Harden, and Ant Edwards.
However, those numbers don't tell the whole story.
