Over the last few months, we've joked about the ridiculousness of NBA.com leaving Jalen Brunson outside its top-10 MVP rankings. Knicks fans have been quick to point out the foolishness of having Brunson behind players such as Devin Booker (who plays with KD), Kawhi Leonard (who plays with Paul George and James Harden) and Anthony Davis (who plays with LeBron James).
As I tweeted last week after they left Brunson off the list following this 61-point masterpiece, it's safe to assume the whole thing is a bit by the writer (Michael C. Wright) to gain attention/clicks. There is no other logical explanation. If you've been so much as casually paying attention to the NBA this season, it's impossible to argue that Jalen Brunson isn't one of the ten most valuable players in the league.
For most of the last two months, as Brunson carried the shorthanded, injury-ravaged Knicks on his back night after night, several pundits started to argue that Brunson had a legitimate case to finish in the top eight. However, I'm beginning to wonder if a strong argument couldn't be made for Brunson landing inside the top five.
He's been that good.
