Bringing Back Josh Hart Should be a Top Priority for the Knicks
Josh Hart, speaking with Bleacher Report's Taylor earlier this week, confirmed what most of us expected - that he will likely decline his player option for the 2023-24 NBA season. "We'll probably decline that (option) and do the free agency thing," Hart declared.
His option is worth $12.9 million, and several teams would be willing to offer more than annually while also tacking on several years of guaranteed salary, making his decision quite easy.
However, Hart did tell Rooks that his clear preference is to remain in New York.
"I love New York. I love the team. I love the coaching staff, the front office that we have, we have young guys, draft picks, all those sorts of things," Hart said. "I mean, obviously, that would be an ideal place for me to just re-sign there and do that. Everything's perfect on the court, off the court, with family being close to home and all those kinds of things. So, fingers crossed that when free agency starts, I'll say a deal will get done hopefully in the first day or two. I would love for that to be home."
And it is safe to assume that the Knicks front office feels the same way.
