Breaking: Knicks Bring Back Shamet
NY reportedly intends to bring another sharpshooter to camp as well...
The Knicks and Landry Shamet have agreed on a one-year contract, according to Shams Charania of ESPN, who was informed by Shamet’s agent, George S. Langberg.
We haven’t received any confirmation regarding the contract details (Shamet originally signed a non-guaranteed Exhibit 9 deal with New York last year), but based on the timing, it’s likely a similarly non-guaranteed pact, which gives New York some flexibility.
The Knicks had reportedly considered several other options for their final veteran-eligible roster spot (such as Ben Simmons, Malik Beasley, Russell Westbrook, etc), but this is a smart, safe move by Leon Rose and company. Ever since Shamet came on strong at the end of last season, it seemed this reunion was a strong possibility.
