Beer's Six Pack: 6 Things To What To Watch For in Preseason Game #1

After months of talking and arguing and rehashing "what if's" and "could be's," we'll soon have some actual NBA action to talk about, with the Knicks hosting the Pistons for their preseason debut Tuesday night.

Here are six things I'll keep an eye on in this contest:

1. The Starting Lineup.

One of the most intriguing (and controversial) decisions coach Tom Thibodeau has to make over the next two weeks is who to start at shooting guard. The battle between Quentin Grimes and Evan Fournier was expected to be heated throughout training camp and the preseason. However, New York announced Monday afternoon that Quentin Grimes has been ruled out of Tuesday's matchup due to a sore left foot.

Grimes did not participate in the team's first practice last week and was spotted sporting a walking boot, which made many fans nervous. Yet, Grimes has since shed the boot and has been able to return to full-court workouts with his teammates. We can expect an update on his injury and a timetable for his return tomorrow.

We can assume the starting five will be Jalen Brunson, Fournier, RJ Barrett, Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson. Yes, it's only a meaningless exhibition game, but it will undoubtedly be a special moment for Brunson when he is introduced as a Knick for the first time inside MSG, with his father right by his side. Expect loud cheers for JB all night long.
