The NBA's Free Agency period, a crucial time for teams to fortify their rosters, is rapidly approaching. Beginning on June 30th at 6:00 PM, teams can initiate negotiations with free agents, albeit with a moratorium until July 6th, when clubs can officially sign players.
We'll begin the positional ranking of the top free agents set to hit the open market this summer by listing the best point guards up for grabs:
1. Tyrese Maxey / Philadelphia 76ers / Restricted:
The cream of the 2024 free-agent PG crop, Maxey secured his status as a max-contract player via a breakout 2023-24 campaign. Not only did he make his first All-Star team, but the 23-year-old excelled in the playoffs, averaging 29.8 points and 6.8 assists per game vs. New York. The Sixers will use their cap space to shop for a third star to join Maxey and Joel Embiid before exceeding the cap to re-sign Maxey to a max pact.
2. Immanuel Quickley / Toronto Raptors / Restricted:
After arriving in Toronto after a mid-season trade, Quickley showed why the Raps were willing to part with OG Anunoby to secure his services, as IQ averaged 18.6 points and 6.8 assists over 38 games with Toronto. He'll likely secure a long-term deal in the neighborhood of $25 million annually.
