We made it, y'all!!
It's been 156 days since the Knicks lost to the Pacers at MSG in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Tonight, we get to watch meaningful NBA basketball!!
To celebrate, I am offering a sitewide discount and officially announcing the renaming of this newsletter. We are shifting from "What's on Tap" to "Knicks Centric."
The "What's on Tap" moniker played off the Beer surname and served us well over the past few years, but it did lead to some confusion. For instance, I'd have people send me direct messages wondering if I discussed the difference between IPAs and Pale Ales or which microbrew I'd recommend.
Furthermore, part of idiot Elon's grand plan to ruin Twitter includes shadowbanning all Substack links. Consequently, generating awareness of this newsletter on the world's most influential app has been difficult.
I hope changing the name will increase Google-directed traffic and find more folks looking for serious, quality, data-driven Knicks content. (You guys can also help by spreading the word to friends and fans, which is always very much appreciated!)
While I will continue to cover the NBA at large (for instance, I'll still publish league-wide free-agent rankings and tackle topics that impact the league as a whole), my focus has always been the 'Bockers, and that will certainly continue to be the case.
Also, starting today, subscribers are eligible for a 20% discount on all annual or monthly "Knicks Centric" subscriptions for the rest of October.
If you're currently a free subscriber, you receive previews of most posts and occasional columns in their entirety. If you upgrade to paid, you receive access to every post, including recaps of every game and much more.
The offer is valid through the end of next week, so now is an ideal time to act if you've been considering a paid subscription.

Whether you choose to upgrade or stick with the free option, thank you so much for your continued support!
Lastly, before I take off, I wanted to point out that Jalen Brunson will be the Knicks' starting point guard tonight, and Tom Thibodeau is NY's head coach. Why is this notable, you might ask?
It is the first time this century that New York has had the same starting opening-night PG and head coach in three consecutive seasons.
Charlie Ward and Jeff Van Gundy were the last Knicks PG/coach combo to achieve this feat.
Here is a list of every Knicks starting point guard on opening night in the decade before Brunson arrived in New York:
2009: Chris Duhon
2010: Ray Felton
2011: Toney Douglas
2012: Ray Felton
2013: Pablo Prigioni
2014: Shane Larkin
2015: Jose Calderon
2016: D Rose
2017: Ramon Sessions
2018: Trey Burke
2019: Allonzo Trier
2020: Elfrid Payton
2021: Kemba Walker
The consistency and continuity of the Brunson/Thibs era have been critical to the team's success.
There are three paramount positions of leadership for an NBA franchise:
Team President/GM
Point Guard
Head Coach
New York has had the same person in each of those positions for three years in a row. That matters.
Thus, let it be proclaimed far and wide, every Opening Night in New York from this day forward will be known as:
"Say a Prayer of Thanksgiving for Jalen Brunson and Leon Rose Day"
Enjoy the game tonight! We'll discuss it tomorrow…
I'm in. It's asking me to subscribe to the pod — do you have plans to revive it?
What do you think is Thibodeau’s favorite quaff? An IPA, pale ale, or, wait, I know, a sour! 😂😂😂
